Delhi, Agra, Orchha, Khajuraho and Varanasi: several eras and traditions in one route.

India · Classical India

The journey’s concept

An extensive cultural journey from the capital and the Taj Mahal to Orchha's palaces, Khajuraho's temple sculpture and the evening Ganges in Varanasi. Architecture, religious traditions and everyday life change along the way. For groups wishing to weave India's different images into one coherent story.

THREE REASONS TO CHOOSE THIS ROUTE

What makes this journey special

01

Architecture across the ages

Agra Fort, Orchha's palaces and Khajuraho's temples speak different artistic languages. The guide looks beyond façades to court life, religion and ideas about humanity.

02

Mathura and Vrindavan

These cities of the Krishna tradition introduce temple music, pilgrimage and everyday life in sacred neighbourhoods.

03

Varanasi beside the Ganges

Ghats, narrow streets and evening aarti provide a powerful conclusion. We observe respectfully towards residents and pilgrims.

PLACES AND EXPERIENCES

Proposed itinerary

The stages below outline a possible route rather than a confirmed departure schedule. Duration, transfers and visits are adapted to the chosen period and the group’s interests.

We begin in the capital with ancient monuments, central districts and active temples. The first day's scope depends on arrival time and group interests.

We allow time for the city's two major monuments: marble decoration, garden geometry, palace spaces and Mughal history.

We visit agreed temples and encounter the cities' distinctive rhythm. Services, music and the festival calendar influence the visiting order.

In this small town on the Betwa we explore Raj Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, palace courtyards and panoramas: a change of pace after the larger cities.

We explore temple complexes and sculptural narratives. Beyond the best-known images, the discussion includes temple structure, mythology and the stone carvers' skill.

A walk through the old town and riverfront, with evening aarti when the schedule allows. We choose observation from a boat or the shore to suit your group.

Return travel and departure are planned around confirmed domestic connections. An extra free day or fewer cities can create a lighter pace.

Practical notes and preparation

  • This is the sequence of main stops; days in each city and transport are agreed on request.
  • Visits to the Taj Mahal, museums and temples account for opening hours and the religious calendar.
  • Expect walks through large complexes, steps and narrow urban streets.
  • In Varanasi we pay particular attention to photography rules and the privacy of people by the river.
