Kola Peninsula: Arctic landscapes and northern light

Moscow, Murmansk and the Teriberka coast. Six days of Arctic stories, nature observations and possible northern-lights outings when conditions allow.

6 days / 5 nights · private group · dates on request

Moscow — Murmansk — Teriberka — Murmansk — Moscow

Northern lights: a possible encounter

A journey with substance

The North changes your sense of scale: a coastal city, tundra beyond the window, wind on the shore and the possibility of light in a dark sky. Explore the Arctic as a living place, shaped by exploration, everyday life and nature’s influence on the timetable.

The route connects Murmansk and Teriberka, with three nights in the region and flexibility to reorder outings. Aurora viewing requires suitable conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Arctic scenery, local stories and an attentive introduction to the North form the journey’s substance.

This is an itinerary concept on request, not a confirmed departure. Hotels, guides, transport, visits, price and the final service list are confirmed for each group.

Three threads of the journey

Three nights in the North

Base the group in Murmansk and discuss daytime and evening outings according to forecasts. The number of aurora-viewing attempts and transport are specified in the proposal.

The Arctic through people’s stories

A city museum focus and conversation with a local guide connect the landscape with regional life. Community encounters require agreement and respect for local rules.

Teriberka and the Barents Sea coast

A separate day follows the tundra road to accessible parts of the coast. A weather alternative and programme-change conditions are discussed before confirmation.

Who this journey is for

For international groups interested in northern scenery, photography, Arctic history and a new experience of nature. Cold, darkness and changing road conditions require a flexible approach. Individual limitations and a comfortable activity level are discussed beforehand.

Moscow: the scale of a capital
Moscow: the scale of a capital

Squares and Saint Basil’s silhouette introduce the making of a capital. Look beyond the familiar view to the city’s stories and details.

Murmansk: a city of northern latitudes

The panorama introduces the scale of the Arctic port. Museums and city stories provide a substantive alternative when weather changes the outdoor plan.

Your 6-day journey

Moscow: 1 + 1 nights · Murmansk: 3 nights

Open a day for details. The order of visits is refined when your journey is planned.

Arrival, transfer and check-in. Review clothing, outing arrangements, meals and expectations at the welcome meeting. A suitable arrival time may allow a short city walk. The northern programme follows the agreed domestic flight.

Overnight in Moscow. International and domestic sectors are confirmed separately.

Fly to Murmansk, transfer and check in. Explore selected public spaces with a local guide’s stories. If conditions and forecasts are suitable, discuss an evening outing to observe the sky. Confirm duration, clothing and return arrangements before leaving.

Overnight in Murmansk. Outings and aurora visibility depend on conditions; the phenomenon is not guaranteed.

If the road is accessible, travel to Teriberka. The drive introduces the Arctic landscape. Choose permitted walking areas suitable for the group, with time for photographs and lunch. Return to Murmansk; the day does not depend on a boat trip.

Overnight in Murmansk. Road closure may require a different day or an agreed alternative.

Choose a museum or city theme: polar exploration, maritime history or local culture. A visit to the Lenin icebreaker is possible only after checking availability. The day also allows the Teriberka outing to move if weather requires. Any evening aurora outing follows the agreed number of attempts.

Overnight in Murmansk. Special encounters and museum tickets require confirmation.

Plan the flight to Moscow and a hotel transfer. This night separates the regional journey from the international departure. No essential visits are scheduled; the focus is confirmed logistics and contingency time.

Overnight in Moscow. Extra nights and costs caused by delays follow conditions agreed beforehand.

Airport transfer for the confirmed flight. Additional days in Moscow or a separate St Petersburg itinerary can be discussed in advance. Extensions require their own services and quotation.

The base concept is six days and five nights.

One route, shaped by your interests

A cultural group

Build the journey around architecture, museums, crafts, food and conversations with local people. Special encounters are arranged after agreement.

A community and its own host

Allow room for a thematic meeting or a session led by your own host. Venue, interpreting and content are included in the planning process.

A private or family group

Adjust walking, service, accommodation and breaks to the travellers. Suitable arrangements for children or reduced mobility are checked separately.

Pace, season and comfort

When to travel

For an aurora-focused version, consider the darker period, approximately September–March. Weather, clouds and solar activity influence the result. A summer Arctic journey needs a different programme and is not sold with an aurora promise.

Where to stay

Agree two separate Moscow nights and three in Murmansk, hotel category and meals. Daytime and evening outings require checks of transport, time on the road, warm clothing, breaks and current permissions for selected locations.

Activity level

Cold, wind, snow, darkness and uneven ground can substantially affect the activity level. Walks follow participants’ abilities. Boat trips, snowmobiles and other special activities are not automatically included.

What your proposal will specify

Agree five nights’ accommodation, the Moscow–Murmansk return flight sectors, transfers, regional guiding and available visits. Evening outing numbers, meals, tickets, warm equipment and weather alternatives are specified separately.

What is considered separately

Unless your individual proposal states otherwise, international flights, visa expenses, insurance, personal purchases, single-room supplements, tips and additional activities are considered separately. Documentation and insurance requirements are checked against the programme actually selected.

How to get a quotation

The quotation is prepared for your group after confirming season, numbers, accommodation, guiding language, meals and special activities. The proposal specifies inclusions, supplements, confirmation steps and change conditions. Publishing an itinerary does not confirm a price or service availability.

Practical arrangements

Before booking, check entry requirements for each traveller’s nationality, current official advice, location restrictions, insurance, transport and payment arrangements. Acceptance of a particular foreign bank card is not promised. Required permits and expenses are identified in the agreed service list.

Before you enquire

This is a tailor-made itinerary outline. Dates, group composition and services are agreed before quotation and confirmation. Publication does not mean an open departure or reserved places.

The guiding language is specified in the proposal. International groups can request English; Hindi, Turkish, German and other languages require a separate availability check. Website translations do not confirm a guide in every language on every date.

Tell us your specific requirements: vegetarian or Jain meals, halal preferences, ingredient restrictions and allergies. We check the selected hotels and restaurants. The confirmed menu and preparation arrangements are agreed separately; preferences are never assumed from nationality.

Yes. Discuss thematic sessions, activities and time for your group. Host, venue, equipment, interpreting and schedule are confirmed separately. Evgenia Maslova or any other named author is not automatically included.

Include your company, source market, numbers, proposed dates and group requirements in the itinerary enquiry. WST’s partnership page is available for cooperation discussions. Commercial terms are agreed separately; this itinerary creates no new automatic discounts or commissions.

Let us shape your group’s journey

Tell us your group size, dates, language, interests and dietary requests. We will prepare a tailored itinerary outline and quotation.
